Among the many, many talented designers that work with Olympic Kitchens to create stunning custom kitchens, one name, in particular, stands out due to his never-ending list of star-studded appearances. This week, we feature Andrew Pike.
The man who does it all
“A nationally recognized designer, host and media personality, Andrew Pike has been involved in the arts and design community for over twenty years.” From the bauhaus movement of Germany, to the warm, terracotta tile colours of Spain, Europe was a prominent influence in Andrew’s career as it gave him “a refined appreciation for architecture, history and antiquity, and encouraged his signature aesthetic that effortlessly blends design periods and styles.”
Taking it all in stride, his return to Canada was met with much excitement, working alongside well-known brands such as Restoration Hardware and CABAN and then later rising to prominence through audience-adored television programs. Along with the debut of his own show, HGTV’s Rooms That Rock, Andrew appeared on Christine Cushing’s Cook With Me on the FOOD Network, as well as Breakfast Television, and The Social on CTV. Andrew has also been featured in House & Home Magazine, The National Post, The Toronto Star, and many online publications, and presents at design shows and venues across the country including The National Home Show, IDS, IDSWest, and BuildEx.
With such vast experience in the industry both on and off-screen, we couldn’t resist asking him a few questions about his history and process when working with Olympic Kitchens.
How did you find out about Olympic Kitchens?
“A few years ago, I had the pleasure of coming across Louie and his company, Olympic Kitchens, and it started a conversation between us on how we could work together. So, we actually did our first kitchen together many years ago and we had a fantastic working relationship ever since.”
What was the process like when planning your own kitchen renovation?
“When I started planning my kitchen reno, there [were] a lot of considerations that had to be made. A great kitchen, for me, is a space that does two things: it obviously has to be beautiful, it also has to be functional. So in addition to the under-cabinet lighting and the in-cabinet lighting, I put in a lot of pot lights, but my favourite part is the two beautiful rock crystal chandeliers. I just love it.”
These days, Andrew is the resident Décor Expert on The Marilyn Denis Show on CTV where he can be seen showing self-designed spaces and offering design advice, tips, and trends. You can also find him on Instagram at @andrewpikeinteriors, and check out his website at http://andrewpikeinteriors.com
We thank Andrew for his time, and look forward to more collaborations with him and his team in the future!
